Wrist tracking

Our wrist tracking system

TouchDIVER acquires hand and wrist positions from either the HMD or external trackers, offering compatibility with various controllers like Meta, Pico, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality, and more for unified tracking. It relies on the headset and connected controllers to accurately capture spatial hand movements. In structured environments with cameras and lighthouse trackers, placing markers on the TouchDIVER is sufficient for precise tracking.

Degrees of freedom

TouchDIVER provides robust 6DoF (6 degrees of freedom) tracking for precise wrist movements in virtual reality, achieved through a combination of optical sensors and inertial measurement units (IMUs). This tracking system guarantees accuracy in various VR applications. In addition to controllers, external tracking systems can be used in VR rooms or structured environments like Location Based Entertainment (LBE). These systems replace headset sensors with arrays of infrared cameras that track reflective markers for precise hand positioning in 3D space. While this approach maintains the headset’s lightweight design, it requires additional equipment.

External tracking systems

The TouchDIVER haptic glove is compatible with a range of external controllers, including Meta (Oculus Quest), Pico, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality, and others. This compatibility enables users to effortlessly incorporate TouchDIVER into their VR experiences, improving immersion and wrist movement precision. By utilizing the advanced tracking features of these controllers, users can enjoy realistic tactile feedback when interacting with virtual objects, making it suitable for gaming, training simulations, or virtual design. TouchDIVER’s versatility ensures smooth integration with popular VR platforms, delivering captivating haptic interactions for users.
