SUPSI using TouchDIVER for robotic teleoperation manipulation task
The Swiss AI Lab IDSIA is a joint research institute of both the Faculty of Informatics of the USI (Università della Svizzera Italiana) and the Department of Innovative Technologies of SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland). The Lab has adopted TouchDIVER for robotic teleoperation manipulation tasks.

Goals
SUPSI research institute adopted TouchDIVER in a robotic teleoperation manipulation task, to enhance the performance (success rate and telepresence) of executed tasks (remote assembly task execution).

TouchDIVER adoption
The TouchDIVER allowed to provide the user with an improved telepresence, thanks to the force feedback perceived at user’s fingertips. In this way, it was possible to feel what the robot was feeling, thus improving the task performance.

The Swiss AI Lab IDSIA (Istituto Dalle Molle di Studi sull’Intelligenza Artificiale) is a joint research institute of both the Faculty of Informatics of the Università della Svizzera Italiana and the Department of Innovative Technologies of SUPSI, the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland, focusing on algorithms and theory of AI and computer science, machine learning (deep neural networks, graph neural networks, reinforcement learning), intelligent control of networked systems, geometric and visual computing, information retrieval and natural language processing, and autonomous robotics.

TouchDIVER is the only VR haptic glove that co-localizes on fingertips the 3 stimuli influencing touch – force feedback, textures and thermal cues.
With TouchDIVER, interacting with virtual objects feels as natural as the real thing.
