Next-gen airport training: the impact of TouchDIVER Pro at Aena

In collaboration with Aena and DeuSens, WEART contributed to the development of an advanced VR training program by integrating TouchDIVER Pro haptic gloves. This project focuses on the practical adoption of haptic technology in airport training, enabling more realistic and interactive simulations that improve how staff learn and perform operational tasks.

Case Study

01

Goals

The VR Training project aims to enhance airport staff training by enabling realistic, hands-on interaction within virtual environments. The objective is to improve learning efficiency, reduce reliance on physical resources and provide a safe space where complex procedures can be practiced and evaluated with high accuracy.

02

TouchDIVER adoption

TouchDIVER Pro was selected for its unique ability to deliver co-localized haptic feedback, combining force, textures and thermal cues directly on the fingertips. This technology allows users to interact with virtual objects naturally, making training scenarios more immersive and significantly closer to real-world experiences.

Advantages of using haptics in VR training

The integration of TouchDIVER Pro significantly improved the effectiveness of the training program. By enabling realistic touch interactions, trainees can perform tasks more intuitively, reinforcing muscle memory and accelerating learning curves.

This results in:

  • More accurate skill acquisition through hands-on virtual practice
  • Improved performance evaluation based on natural interactions
  • Reduced need for physical resources and on-site training setups

The combination of VR and mutimodal haptics transforms training into a more engaging, safe and scalable experience, setting a new standard for professional learning in airport environments.
