Wireless Communication

Besides VR PC, TouchDIVER communicates direcly with Standalone Meta headsets via built-in Bluetooth, thus making the experience portable and easy to use everywhere. By adopting this setup, final users reduce costs associated with TouchDIVER adoption, as it eliminates the necessity of a VR PC to run the experience.

Standalone

With standalone setup, final users reduce costs associated with TouchDIVER adoption, as it eliminates the necessity of a VR PC to run the experience. The standalone SDK simultaneously supports up to 2 connected TouchDIVER devices, allowing users to have bimanual haptic experiences. Standalone setup is currently available for Meta headsets; PICO and HTC headsets will follow soon.

Dongle BLE

The USB Dongle plays a crucial role in facilitating wireless communication between the PC and the TouchDIVER. The Middleware application is a valuable desktop tool designed to streamline communication between the SDK client (Unity, Unreal, and Low-level API) and TouchDIVER.  For VR PC setup, the USB Dongle utilizes the Bi-directional BLE protocol, and manages the proprietary communication protocol, avoiding latency introduced by resources allocation controlled by Windows or the HMD’s operative systems. Our USB Dongle can connect simultaneously up to 2 TouchDIVER devices for bimanual haptic experiences.

Middleware

The Middleware application serves as a desktop tool to enhance communication between SDK clients like Unity, Unreal, and Low-level API and TouchDIVER, ensuring reliability and providing utility features. It’s essential for PC-based application development but optional for standalone solutions like native visor apps, where it can still be useful for managing utilities.

Device connection management

One of the key features of the Middleware application is its ability to manage device connections. It simplifies the process of establishing and maintaining connections with various devices. Additionally, it facilitates forwarding data from the client SDK to the TouchDIVER, enabling smooth and efficient communication between these components.

Device diagnostic and session management

The Middleware application offers crucial features for device diagnostics and session management. It enables monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing device performance, addressing issues in development or usage. Additionally, it provides device calibration and configuration options, allowing developers to customize settings to meet specific needs.
